The Urchin Collective's Guide to Bali | Part 1 Shopping

See part 1 of my Bali guide here!

Many people ask me for my Bali shopping tips and for a first time visiter the streets of Bali can be overwhelming and daunting.  So I have compiled a list of my favourite shops in Seminyak along with a handy map to help you navigate the crazy that is Bali's roads.  I have included all of my favourite places to eat on the map so when you are out shopping up a storm it will be easy to find somewhere yummy to eat.  I will also be covering all my favourite eateries in Part 2 of my Guide To Bali.

Walking Shopping Tour of Central Seminyak.

Here is my map of all of my favourite shops and eateries.  All of my most loved boutiques are in walking distance of each other in central Seminyak, but it is a full day of crazy, so have your best walking shoes on, Havaianas of course!
Let's start at Magali Pascal and walk our way around to Motel Mexicola for lunch and finish a Potato Head to watch the sunset whilst snacking on their yummy cheese plate and sipping on a mojito. So remember to pack a swimsuit, or you could just buy one on your way!

First stop....Magali PascalNo 177 JL Laksmana Oberoi aka Jl.Kayu Aya

Mascali Pascal is a must visit on your trip, it has become an iconic brand in Bali.  Prepare for Sydney price tags but also prepare for quality.  Their pieces are cleverly designed and exquisitely made and will have a special place in your wardrobe for many years to come.  My sister-in-law tried on the above white dress and it was jaw dropping, shut the front door kind of amazingness!

If you can pull yourself out of the air-conditioning stroll west to Drifter Surf Shop.  There is shop after shop on your way, so take your pick which ones you want to explore, some notable ones are Lily Jean and Vintage Century.

Second stop... Drifter Surf Shop No 50 JL Laksmana Oberoi aka Jl.Kayu Aya Oberoi

I love, love, love this store!  Be prepared to spend a LONG time in here.  There is not only clothing for both girls and guys but, books, posters, jewellery, sunglasses and the most stunning surfboards you will ever lay your eyes on, it took all of my self control not to buy a board just to display it in my house like a piece of furniture!  Nothing in here is cheap, but it is all beautiful, lots of cool pieces to take home as a momento of your trip.

Stop 3.  Coffee time!  Home Store, This Is A Love Song and Revolver Coffee HouseLaksmana Oberoi aka Jl.Kayu Aya Oberoi

Home Store is full of quintessential Bali colour and pattern, a mix of accessories and kids clothes a piece from here makes the perfect gift for family and friends at home.

This Is A Love Song is full of fun, edgy street style fashion, for both him and her.  An eclectic mix of colour, pattern. black and white, denim and leather and when you have finished shopping up a storm just enter Revolver Coffee House for a well deserved caffeine hit!

Stop 4 Tropicana No 36 Jalan Kayu Aya

Head out of Revolver and turn left, just past Diva, (don't you dare!! You can go anytime here in Aus!) and you will find Tropicana, just look for the pole painted with bananas! Great for rip off singlets and tees, like Celine Me Alone and Partier and vintage Levi denim shorts.

Stop 5 Maiden Love No 8 JL Kayu Aya

Just down the road and across the road is Maiden Love, I bought one of my all time favourite one piece swimsuit and it was a bargain! They regularly have sales with lots of bargains and along side their own label they stock lots of familiar brands like Zimmerman.

Stop 6 - Deus Ex Machina JL Kayu Aya

Head right out of Maiden Love and you will find Deus just a few doors down.  Some serious cool for the men in your life, stock up for presents for your man, brothers, dad, friends etc.

Now it is time for some yummy lunch, either jump in a cab or walk, about 1km to Motel Mexicola.  You can't go past a mojito, guacamole and their pork taquito!  Loads of nice pictures of Motel Mexicola I took on my last trip here.

Stop 7 Mr Zimi Outlet No 8 Jalan Kayu Jati

Directly across from Mexicola is the Mr Zimi outlet and just around the corner (see map) is their main store.  Lots of pattern on pattern, vibrant colour and great mod shapes, a piece from here is a must for your Bali collection. There are a few little stores worth checking out here so pop inside them all.

Now follow the map to Potato Head, but on your way be sure to have a mosey through the markets that are on the way.  I bought a really cute leather bag here, a brown paper bag style one for only $30!  When you are over the heat it is time to make your way to Number Eleven Store, (under Potato Head)

I love, love, love this store, it could be me all time favourite shop in Bali.  80% of the stuff in here is out of my price range but it doen't stop me from enjoying the sights.  Before you are tempted to go shopping, first quickly  go upstairs and put your name down for a daybed by the pool! Take your time looking at the jewellery and accessories, just devine!

Now you have shopped it is time to drop! Enjoy!
